On 7th November 2023, the Japan-Sweden Society hosted its Annual Nobel Dinner at the Tokyo American Club. Prof. Shinya Yamanaka of Kyoto University, the 2012 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, was our distinguished guest speaker. We were delighted to have Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado as our guest of honour at the event.

Mr Seiji Morimoto, Acting President of JSS and a former Japanese Ambassador of Japan to Sweden, and HE Pereric Högberg, Swedish Ambassador to Japan and Honorary President of JSS, both greeted the attendees with short welcome speeches.

Prof. Yamanaka spoke on the theme "Recent Progress in iPS Cell Research and Application". It was an engaging presentation which included many personal anecdotes and fascinating facts about his revolutionary research.

Upon the conclusion of Prof. Yamanaka’s presentation, Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado shared her thoughts about it and thanked him for his speech.

The event was attended by some 110 members and guests. In addition to representatives from the Japanese-Swedish community, JSS was delighted to have HE Kristin Iglum, Norwegian Ambassador to Japan, as well as several representatives from The Norway-Japan Society among the event attendees.
