We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr Soichiro Yoshida, the President of The Japan-Sweden Society.
Dr Yoshida made outstanding contributions over many years to the development of relations between Japan and Sweden, as well as the other Nordic countries.
He served as Honorary Consul of Sweden in Nagano. He was recognised as a Knight of the Royal Order of the Polar Star in 2006 and Commander of the Royal Order of the Polar Star in 2016 by the Kingdom of Sweden for his distinguished service.
After many years as a board member, in June of last year, he was elected President of the Japan-Sweden Society, where he provided strong leadership in strengthening the organisation’s foundation and its activities.
We express our deepest gratitude for his friendship and support during his lifetime, and we respectfully offer our sincere condolences to his family.
Vice President Yukio Doi will lead our board and the Society until further notice.
