The Japan-Sweden Society (JSS) will host this year’s Nobel Dinner on Wednesday, 6th November 2024, starting at 6:30 PM at the Tokyo American Club. Our guest speaker will be Professor Svante Pääbo, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine 2022, recognized for his groundbreaking discoveries on the genomes of extinct hominids, including Neanderthals and Homo sapiens. He is a Professor of Genetics and Evolutionary Biology at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology and an Adjunct Professor at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology. His lecture, titled “An Archaic Perspective on the Origin of Modern Humans,” promises to be insightful.
